JAMSBASH

JamsBash love telling large scale stories. The guys have spent the last decade crafting award-winning commercials, TV shows, documentaries, a feature film and have collected thousands of fire emojis on Instagram (we think.) Also known as Jamaal Parham and Bashan Aquart, the two are driven by a desire to tell stories of the authentic American experience, infused with magical realism and rooted in a love of boundary pushing design and classic filmmaking technique. They’ve worked with some of the worlds most storied brands, telling stories for Mastercard, ESPN, Disney, Xfinity, Major League Baseball, Vogue, Adidas, Ebay, Team USA, Warner Brothers and many more. Their unique perspective, love of genuine humor and complex storytelling has led them to direct some of the best talent in the industry, including: Michael B. Jordan, Robert De Niro, Samuel L. Jackson, Laurence Fishburne, Jake Gyllenhaal, Derek Jeter, Eli Manning and more.

The duo has created award winning content ad agencies and production companies, taking projects from concept to traffic. Their work for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child not only took over Times Square in a truly massive experiential event but was honored with a national ADDY Award, an Adweek Experiential Award, a spot on the One Show shortlist and a Grand Clio. The first ever awarded for a live entertainment brand. Most recently the branded-content short film Generations, written and directed by the pair for Disney, was awarded two gold Clios; one for best spot “61 Second and Over” and a second for “Best Directors.” Their work isn’t just limited to commercials and short forms. On the film and TV side they directed two full seasons of HBO’s Pause With Sam Jay, a late-night comedy show which premiered to critical acclaim on HBO and Max in 2021. Their indie feature film The Day Ones, executive produced by SoundCloud, was released in early 2022. Prior to this, they wrote and directed a one hour special for ESPN titled A Room Of Our Own, a unique and ground breaking hour of television that explores the relationship between Black athletes and Black music and its transcending impact in powering social movements. The special stars Grammy nominated musician Freddie Gibbs, pop-star Tina she and singer-songwriter Jensen McRae. Up next are documentary films for ESPN Films(30 for 30) and another for Condé Nast Studios (Cat Person, Hillsong, Last Chance U.) On the narrative side they are in developing a feature film for State Street Pictures (The Hate you Give, Barbershop) and directing Something Kinda Wonderful, based on a script co-written by Pilar Valdés and Jamaal. The film stars Kiki Layne (The Old Guard), Jermaine Fowler (The Blackening, Murder At The End Of The World) and Jamie Chung (Lovecraft Country) and is being produced by Prentice Penny (Insecure) and Sundial Pictures (Obvious Child, Jiro Dreams Of Sushi.)
